Start at the lay-by alongside the Gwyn Arms GR SN846 165 OS Map OL12.
A circular walk which begins by walking along the Fan Hir ridgeline before descending to Llyn Y Fan Fawr and the infant river Tawe, from here the route again ascends to visit the summit of Cefn Cul before returning along a disused railway track to complete the days journey.

This is a walk south of Machen around the lower end of the Rhymney Valley, going through the village of Draethen, past Ruperra Castle and turning for home at Michaelston-y-Fedw
along the River Rhymney.

Meet at Llantwit Major railway station GR SS 971689 OS Explorer Map 151 in good time to catch the 09.22 train to Bridgend, arriving at 09.39.
The route is via Merthyr Mawr, Ogmore Castle and St Brides Major, reaching the coast at Dunraven Bay. We then head along the beach and cliff tops back to Llantwit Major.

From the National Park Visitor Centre, Libanus GR SN977262 OS Map OL12. We cross the common to find the route of Sarn Helen before entering the National Nature Reserve. A gradual ascent to the trig point at Fan Frynych and on to the Bronze Age cairn from where there are extensive views over the Usk Valley. The descent is under the spectacular cliffs of Craig Cerrig Gleisiad and over Twyn Dylluan-ddu, returning in time for tea at the Visitor Centre.

Park Wardens are involved in a wide range of projects which will be described by Judith Harvey, who is Warden Manager for the National Park.  Judith will show sites where peat conservation is proving its worth; she will tell of “Explosive Times” in the gunpowder factory; and she will review upland path surfacing, erosion control, signage, new bridges, self-closing gates, path construction and access.

Start on the lane adjacent to The Gwyn Arms (not in their car park) GR SN 846 165. OS Map OL12. An expedition to locate six aeroplane crash sites, dating from 1939 to 1953, on Mynydd Du, between Carreg Coch and Moel Feity, via Fan Brycheinog (802m).  Please note this is a long and arduous walk, involving 1000 metres of ascent over difficult terrain.

Start from the furthest car park at Llangors Activity Centre.
GR SO 148267 on OS map OL13 just off the B4560, approx 1 mile from Llangorse. The route takes in the 3 Peaks of Mynydd Llangorse, Mynydd Troed & the cairn at Pen Tir. This is a challenging walk with terrific panoramic views of the National Park.

Meet at Craig y Nos Country Park car park off A4067, GR SN 840155 OS Map OL12.Judith Harvey, Warden Manager for the National Park, and Steffan Edwards, Estate Warden, will take us up Fan Hir ridge to Fan Foel showing us work on ancient funeral cairns and footpath improvements.  Then south over rough ground to Waun Fignen Felin to look at peat conservation and some limestone features before dropping back to Craig y Nos.
