Start in lay-by Grid Ref SO 234 202. at 0900hrs.
Steadily climbing from the start up onto the ridge at Crug Mawr. We follow the ridge to Pen Twyn Mawr and then Pen y Gadair fawr.  Continue to Waun Fach and then across the valley to Mynydd Llysiau, Pen Twyn Glas and up to Pen Allt Mawr. We cross to Pen Cerrig Calch before descending to table mountain and back to Llanbedr.
Full day in the Black mountains.

Meet at Blaenau GR SN 793240 OS Map OL12 (at the end of an unclassified road which passes Llanddeusant Youth Hostel, signposted to Llyn y Fan Fach).
A gentle start up track to Llyn y Fan Fach then a steeper climb onto Bannau Sir Gaer, along top of the escarpment with fantastic views in all directions before descending quite steeply to Llyn y Fan Fawr. Back along the bottom of the escarpment, which may be boggy in places.

Park in Llanfrynach Village & meet by the P.C. opposite the church, GR SO 075258 on map OL 12. The start of this seldom walked route , explores this splendid area of the National Park. We cross Llanfrynach Bridge & have a steady climb up the hill to Pen y Bryn. The route takes us along Gist Wen & up to the summit of Fan y Big, where there are superb Panoramic views of the Brecon Beacons.
We return along the Cefn Cyff ridge & through the Vale of Nant Menascin back to the Village.

Meet at the car park in Ystradffellte GR SN 919 135. OS Map OL12. We will walk NW and then N onto Fan Llia and then Fan Dringarth. Then descend W over rough ground (no path) to the road. Passing the ancient standing stone of Maen Llia, we will then climb up onto Fan Nedd. The descent from there is also rough and may be boggy. We meet the Roman road again before returning to Ystradffellte.

the lake and pass over Y Gyrn on our way back to the start.
N.B. Although I have set the level as strenuous because of the amount of accent, we will walk it at a moderate pace and we will have time to enjoy the wonderful views.
