Meet at Costain Project Office, NP7 0BQ, Map OL13.This visit, which includes a talk and bus tour of the project, will describe the challenges of constructing a major road through environmentally designated areas and the engineering difficulties presented by the extremely narrow gorge.  Consideration of Usk Bat sites, Cwm Clydach Woodlands, archaeological sites, footpath diversion and more will be discussed.  The visit will be followed by a short walk in the area.

We will visit the Sychryd Valley, before following the Mellte River to the gun powder factory. We go underwater at Sgwd yr Eira 0n the Hepste. Perhaps down the Devil’s Glen more waterfalls and a short easy scramble. Then to the Nedd Fechan and Pryddin Valleys. Yet more waterfalls including Sgwd Gwladys This beautiful walk can be tiring as it’s a long day, not to be missed if you are reasonably fit. These stunning waterfalls are at their best in wet weather

After Little Bage we follow Spoon Lane, then climb to the Neolithic chambered tomb known as Arthur’s stone, which dates back to 2500BC, before descending back to the start

Start from the Information Point in the Taf Fechan Forest, at the Neuadd Reservoir car park. GR SO 038170 on map OL 12, approx 1 mile south of the reservoir. The route commences with an exhilarating ascent up the new footpath onto Twyn Mwyalchod, we then gradually descend the hills to cross the dam between the Pentwyn & Pontsticill reservoirs. We continue up the beautiful Cwm Callan valley & return back via the summit of Pant y Creigau.

Meet in Blaen y Cwm Car Park, GR SO 252 285, OS Map OS 13. Ascend Y Fan to the Blacksmith’s Anvil, then descend, visiting Capel-y Ffin with its beautiful little St Mary’s chapel. Then uphill to the ridge between Rhiw y Fan and Twmpa. After visiting Twmpa, we proceed to Rhos Dirion.. From here we take the lower path past the Grwyne Fawr reservoir
